It’s no secret that stress can cause many unwanted health issues both mentally and physically. No one wants to feel stressed but it happens from time to time. When you’re an entrepreneur, the chances of getting stressed out often increase, unfortunately.
It’s important to know how to reduce your stress levels and have a better work-life balance to keep you sane and healthy. Here are a few ways to eliminate stress and still successfully run your business.
Make Sure You’re Getting Enough Sleep
You can only run on an empty tank for so long. Don’t sacrifice sleep in an attempt to get more done because it will just result in burnout and you’ll still feel overwhelmed.
I make it a habit to get at least 8 hours of sleep each night. I usually wake up pretty early so that means going to be early in my household. Getting enough sleep allows your body the time it needs to unwind and relax.
Use Your Calendar to Schedule Tasks
Having a calendar is one of the best tools to eliminate stress. By planning out your day, you know exactly what’s going on and what you do an don’t have time for. Having a calendar to refer to helps me avoid overbooking myself and allows me to realize when my schedule is getting full so I can adjust accordingly.
Plus, it just feels good to have more order and control in my life. I tend to feel stressed out when I don’t know what’s going on or what’s coming next.
Get Rid of Pestering Clients
Your relationship with the people you work with and provide a service for is important. It’s okay to not get along perfectly with each client. Some personalities and preferences just don’t mesh.
If a client relationship is stressing you out, one of the best things you can do it let it go for the sake of expanding your business and your well-being. You will feel much better and can focus your energy and attention on developing client relationships that make you feel good.
Delegate
No matter how you sleep and schedule, your stress issues could lie in the fact that you have way too much on your plate. If that’s the case, be sure to start delegating or increase the load of tasks that you outsource. This can be in your business or personal life.
To eliminate stress in my life and business, I hire a virtual assistant to do tasks, another assistant to help me with social media marketing, shop for groceries online, and split cooking and household tasks with my husband. You can do it all and the sooner you realize that and start delegating, the less stressed you’ll be.
Focus on One Goal at a Time
Finally, you can eliminate stress by focusing on one goal at a time. If your interests, time and energy, and split between too many things, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and fall behind which can only lead to more stress.
Stop trying to do everything and prioritize your tasks and goals. Break your goals down into attainable chunks and work on one thing at a time. Reschedule other tasks that don’t fit in line with your priorities and try to avoid multi-tasking.
No matter how busy or challenging your schedule seems, it doesn’t have to be a recipe for stress and overwhelm. Use these 5 strategies to help you control and eliminate stress long-term.
